Perspectives on Metaorganisms tells a multimedia story about host-microbe research, the interplay between multicellular host and their microbial symbionts. The roots of this project date back to 2016, when we started interviewing numerous leading experts from six countries, including key questions about the origins, challenges, potential and future developments of this exciting field:
- Why is all life microbial?
- Why is the microbiome endangered?
- How to restore it?
- Are we moving towards a new biology and medicine?
Here you can find exemplary answers from 15 distinguished researchers that were edited and thematically assembled to compare the different perspectives on the four topics. The outtakes were extracted from about 40 standardized interviews with international guests, led by CRC 1182 spokesperson Thomas Bosch. Overall, we provide an innovative approach to access this rich source of information and learn about the expert’s perspectives on the significance, potential and future directions of host-microbe research first-hand.
